While our daily life is punctuated by the terms “crisis” and “inflation”, consumers are worried about seeing the amounts of their bills increase. Let Free subscribers be reassured, the packages will not increase, assures the general manager of the group in an interview with Les Echos. At the question “Could the price of landline and mobile plans increase”he answers :
Free is the anti-inflation weapon. We have not increased the price of our 2 euro and 19.99 euro mobile plans over the past ten years and we made a commitment at the start of the year not to touch them for the next five either. However, our offers have been considerably enriched with 4G and then 5G included, always more data…
Thomas Reynaud explains that the company’s strategy is based on “a promise of purchasing power”. Raising prices in times of crisis would therefore not be of interest for the operator.
Iliad: still crazy results
Obviously this strategy is paying off. In the second quarter, the Iliad group (parent company of Free) posted insolent growth in an ultra-competitive sector. In France, sales increased by 7.1% and Free has positioned itself as the leading recruiter in terms of recruiting new fixed line subscribers (+67,000) and is posting an excellent performance on mobile (+120,000 net new subscribers).
It is also thanks to France (+71 million euros) and especially Italy (+82 million euros) that the Iliad group has recorded such results. Thus, in the 1st half, its EBITDAaL grew pro forma organically by 10.1% to 1.58 billion euros. Something to make Thomas Reynaud proud, who declares:
The Iliad group announces this morning with pride and humility very good results in its three countries of establishment. Pride because we have been able to develop a unique growth model among pan-European Telecom operators. Humility because these very good results are the result of years of investment in our networks and in our innovation policy. We have every August, particularly strategic and financial, to continue to grow despite the current international uncertainties.
Of which act.
