In recent years, Apple has made significant changes to the design of its iPads. However, these changes, so far, only affected iPad Pro, iPad Air, and the latest iPad mini. As for the entry-level iPad, this one kept the classic design, complete with the home button.
But apparently, on the iPad 10, Apple is finally planning some small changes. This is in any case what is suggested by an article on the MySmartPrice site.
iPad 10: the same design in front, but not behind?
This one just released alleged renders of the iPad 10. And judging from these images, the faceplate of the iPad 10 will be very similar to that of the iPad 9, with the home button on the bottom, the front camera on the top, and very thick borders.
On the other hand, the design of the chassis would change, with a frame with flat edges. Thus, the back of the iPad 10 would have more resemblance to that of the last iPad mini. Besides that, it can also be noticed that a camera bump is appearing, although the iPad 10 will apparently only have one sensor. But this implies that the firm could improve the characteristics of this camera.

Unfortunately, these images do not show wearing the device. But it is possible that Apple will replace its proprietary Lightning port with a USB-C on the iPad 10. As a reminder, this transition has already been launched on the other iPad models. And besides, Apple will soon be forced to adopt USB-C on all its products, because of a new European rule that has yet to come into force.
Otherwise, when it comes to specs, MySmartPrice says Apple might equip the iPad 10 with an A14 chip, a component that’s used by the iPad Air 4 and iPhone 12. This chip supports 5G . And as for the screen, it could be wider, with a diagonal of 10.5 inches or 10.9 inches. On the other hand, the iPad 10 would be thinner than its predecessor.
Possible exit in the fall
Note that this is not the first time that we have heard rumors about the iPad 10. For example, in June, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman corroborated 9to5Mac’s information on this entry-level iPad, indicating that this should use the A14 chip, with an option to have 5G connectivity. The journalist had also indicated that this iPad will be presented this fall.
In addition to the iPad 10, Apple could also formalize new iPad Pros before the end of the year. These would have 11-inch and 12.9-inch screens, and they would use the M2 chip, the chips in the latest MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
But as usual, this information is for the moment to be considered with caution, insofar as it comes from an unofficial source. In any case, it is possible that the new iPads from Apple will not come out before October. Indeed, according to sources, the release of the new version of the iPadOS operating system has been postponed.
