This concerns the most premium smartphones, like the iPhone 13, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra or the new Galaxy Z Flip4 and the OPPO Reno8 5G.
The Galaxy Z Flip4 from 1 euro
To help you understand this Smartphone Financing mechanism, we will take a concrete example with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. This folding smartphone released at the beginning of August is sold for 1109 euros through all official channels.
If you take a classic Sensation 170 GB package with a 24-month commitment from Bouygues Telecom, you can take advantage of the operator discount to buy it for 500 euros. That said, you still have to pay this amount, which is not nothing at the start of the school year. Until now, you could already take advantage of the operator’s free payment facility, which reduced the buy-it-now price to 229 euros, then 8 euros per month for 24 months (that is 421 in total).
To go even further, there is now also the Younited solution. Subject to acceptance, your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 will only cost you one euro at the time of purchase. The cost of the smartphone will then be spread over time, over 36 months, at the rate of 13.89 euros per month (i.e. 500 euros in total). Beyond that, you will have to pay 48.99 euros per month.
This mobile plan requires a 24-month commitment: it is therefore less than the spreading period of Smartphone Financing, which can go up to 36 months. You can therefore choose at this time between extending your subscription to Bouygues Telecom or canceling your subscription. To take a final example, on one of the telecom operator’s bestsellers, the iPhone 13. The latter costs 879 euros in its 128 GB version by default. You can claim the operator discount of 374 euros (which drops the smartphone to 505 euros) if you take a Sensation 170 GB plan with a 24-month commitment. With Smartphone Financing, this same iPhone 13 will only cost you 1 euro down payment on the day of purchase. Then, you will be charged 20.87 euros per month for 24 months.
