Curved screens have invaded our offices and living rooms for a few years now. Many manufacturers have marketed curved screens, advertised as more immersive for the viewer/player. As part of IFA 2022, LG has formalized a new 4K TV, which is capable of switching from a flat screen “classic“, to a 900R curved screen, at the touch of a button.
An OLED Smart TV that folds at LG
The new LG OLED Flex display (LX3) has a diagonal of 45″, and is described as “the world’s first foldable OLED TV“. Obviously, this new LG screen promises to display an image of identical quality, whether the panel is flat or curved, while of course maintaining a response time of 1ms. To switch from a flat to a curved display (and vice-versa), all you have to do is press a single button, and the screen takes care of the rest.
“Perfect for immersive console, PC and cloud gaming, and for enjoying live TV shows and content streaming services, the new LG OLED Flex Smart TV ushers in a whole new era of screen customization.”explains the Korean manufacturer.

On board, we find the fifth generation Alpha 9 processor which allows (among other things) players to adjust the display size according to their preferences. You can thus enjoy a full screen display, but also opt for a 32 or even 27″ display, all via an interface called Gaming Dashboard.
There is also a Multi View mode of the LX3, which allows you to simultaneously view content from two different sources, but also to select the desired sound. At this level, the LG OLED Flex is equipped with two 40W speakers, not to mention a rear light system, Philips Ambilight style.
At present, LG has not made official the date of availability of this new OLED Flex LX3 screen, nor even its selling price.
