The replacement for the legendary Volkswagen Combi is coming. Trials for the ID Buzz press began at the end of the month and the order book opened in May, including in France. In a recent interview with employees, the manufacturer’s sales manager Lars Krause said that more than 10,000 people had already written out the check to hope to receive their copy by the end of the year.
Most of the orders come from Norway (3400 copies), followed by Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. With such a volume, Volkswagen says it has achieved its objectives. Its capacities will not be expandable, at least for this year, while the brand is a victim of the shortage of components and the war in Ukraine.
Moreover, the manager said that the French orders were not ultimately going to be listed in the stock planned for the launch. The first copies of ID Buzz in France could therefore arrive in 2023 instead. At that time, Volkswagen plans to produce up to 60,000 units. When the North American market is launched, production capacities should then reach 130,000 ID Buzz per year.
The latest electric novelty from Volkswagen
The ID Buzz completes Volkswagen’s 100% electric range which currently includes the ID3, ID4 and ID5. Recently, lemon squeezer had been able to take the wheel of the ID5 (the SUV coupe) and test the latest software updates for the entire range. A test that won us over, especially on the active safety equipment part and the capacity of the infotainment screen.
In France, the entrance ticket for the electric van is 56,990 euros. The price to pay to open up to the “baby” lifestyle, as prices have increased compared to the original listings.
“10,000 orders, without the car actually being at the dealership, and no customer having been able to drive it… It’s just impressive. I am very happy that the ID Buzz and the ID Buzz Cargo are already selling so well”rejoiced Lars Krause.
