Samsung is the center of attention right now. After presenting the Galaxy Z Flip4 and the Galaxy Z Fold4 in quick succession, the Korean brand unveiled a new pair of wireless headphones: the Galaxy Buds2 Pro. Resolutely premium headphones that bring many new features.

A new design for the Galaxy Buds2 Pro
When it comes to design, use must come first. This is even more true for products that come to find their place in our ears. Over the years, wireless headphones have become jewels like any other. And they must therefore be irreproachable. This is fortunately the case with the Galaxy Buds2 Pro.
The box is still just as compact. It can easily slip into the bottom of a pocket. Exit on the other hand the shiny plastic, much too messy. Samsung has opted for a matte coating. A smart choice that will delight the most maniacs.
Because all tastes are in nature, the headphones are available in three colors: lavender, anthracite and white. Either the same colors as the Galaxy Z Flip4, except for blue. A regrettable oversight.
Nothing special to say about this beautiful case. Samsung has placed an LED inside and a USB Type-C connector on the back. But its real strength lies in what you can’t see: its battery. Thanks to their box, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro will be able to charge twice.
The headphones, speaking of which, are more compact than the past generation. Samsung has reduced their size by 15% compared to the first model. The weight is also contained. They do not exceed 5.5 grams and they will therefore have no trouble being forgotten once placed in our ear canals.
Because the Galaxy Buds2 come, unsurprisingly, to be placed in the family of in-ear headphones. Not everyone will like it, but Samsung got it right. The headphones will indeed be able to reduce the pressure on the ear canal thanks to a technology called “wind flow”.
Be careful, however, because for it to be effective, it will be imperative to take the time to choose the right tips. Several tests will be necessary to find those that will be perfectly adapted to your morphology. Do not hesitate to test tips different on each earbud.
The support is optimal in any case. The earphones easily find their place and then they no longer move. The runners should therefore find their account there. Even more so with the IPX7 certification they enjoy. Galaxy Buds2 Pro are water, splash and sweat resistant.

Uncompromising quality
Size isn’t everything. And if the Galaxy Buds2 Pro shine with their compactness and lightness, that does not prevent them from having a safe space.
Nothing special to say about their installation. To connect them to a Galaxy smartphone, you just have to open the case. A window will then appear on the phone screen and you just have to tap on the button to start the process. Everything is automated and you don’t have to do anything. And of course, it will also be possible to connect them to another device using a Bluetooth connection. They also support Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth LE Audio will be rolled out later.
There is better yet. Galaxy Buds2 Pro can also connect to multiple devices and seamlessly switch between them. With a notable novelty: now, it is possible to connect them to a television of the brand. Be careful though, because this function is reserved for televisions marketed after February 2022.
The sound quality is on point. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are effective with all musical genres. Rock, pop, rap, electro, classical music or jazz and blues, nothing is lacking. The sound architecture does not change elsewhere. Samsung has once again opted for two speakers. However, their diameter has been reduced to 10 and 5.3 mm.
Fortunately, this has no impact on the quality of the sound reproduction. It is excellent, with a rendering clearly above the first version of the product. The Galaxy Buds2 Pro are precise, with a beautiful dynamic and respect for each nuance, each sound.
A picture almost too idyllic. If they pass very close to perfection, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro still suffer from two or three small defects. The highs are sometimes a bit too present.
The ANC, for its part, is formidable. Once activated, you won’t hear anything except your music. And you can also switch to a transparency mode when the need arises. Functions that are more and more widespread, but which always please.
The same goes for 360 Audio. This function allows, as its name suggests, Samsung’s wireless headphones to reproduce spatialized sound, with the added bonus of a head movement tracking option. If the result is really stunning, you will have to respect precise specifications to benefit from it. So you will need a Samsung device running OneUI 4.1.1 or better. Below this version, you will not be able to benefit from head movement tracking.
Calls stay clear. The three on-board microphones will suppress ambient noise to enhance the voice. Be careful, however, in the noisiest environments. Noise reduction will muffle your tone and your words will become less intelligible.
Battery life will depend on what you do with it. Count about 5 hours with the ANC activated and almost 8 hours without. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more.

A well-thought-out, but incomplete application
The Galaxy Buds2 Pro are supported by an in-house application: Galaxy Wearable. Once the headphones are configured on your smartphone, you will be able to access many configuration options.
It will of course be possible to activate active noise cancellation or transparency mode, but also voice detection. If you activate this option, then your conversation will end when your voice is no longer detected.
The tool will also give you access to Audio 360, or touch controls. Remember to activate the double and triple taps for more flexibility.
It is also through this application that you can access the earphone fit test tool, or read aloud for notifications. Not to mention the neck stretching reminders and the famous Labs.
The equalizer is also stored there and it will allow you to opt for a light, dynamic, clear profile or even to boost the bass and treble. If the attention is commendable, the offer remains incomplete. It is indeed not possible to create your own equalizer. A function that is sorely lacking and which would have helped to make the Galaxy Buds2 Pro a little more customizable.

Our opinion after the Galaxy Buds2 Pro test
The Galaxy Buds2 Pro undeniably bring a plus compared to the first model. They even allow the range to enter a new era. That of premium headphones. Not content with being very comfortable to wear, the Buds2 Pro manage to deliver powerful and well-balanced sound, with very good ANC and advanced functions. And all this with an impressive autonomy and a price that remains under control.
At €229, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro indeed benefit from excellent value for money. On the other hand, it is a pity that the application does not give us more latitude for the equalizer. By creating our own audio profile, we could indeed have corrected the rare defects of the headphones.
