It was almost 3 years ago already, SEGA launched its little Mega Drive Mini in stores, a miniature and modern version of this console which sat (perhaps) in your teenager’s room, under a small cathode-ray TV. After many models “unofficial” and often uninspired, SEGA, undoubtedly enticed by the smell of the success of Nintendo and its NES and Super NES Mini at the time, had decided to take matters into its own hands, with a result that was all in all very successful, despite some small faults of emulation and other titles to absent subscribers.

The Mega Drive Mini 2 arrives on October 27 in France!
A few weeks ago, the Japanese division of SEGA surprised everyone by announcing… a Mega Drive 2 Mini. Indeed, rather than offering a Saturn or a Dreamcast in miniature version, the Japanese firm has decided to relaunch a Mega Drive, this time in the form of a Mega Drive 2, again with a slew of games integrated directly into the machine. A SEGA Mega Drive 2 Mini which will be available on October 27 in stores.
While waiting for its launch, the SEGA Mega Drive 2 Mini has recently lifted the veil on its new toy library, which will obviously offer different titles, compared to the first version.
No Sonic 1, 2 or 3 here, no Mega Man either, no Alisia Dragoon, Kid Chameleon, Ghouls’n Ghosts, Golden Ax or Legend of Thor either. Fortunately, the SEGA game library is large enough to offer a new round of rather enticing titles.
Note that this Mega Drive 2 Mini will also include a selection of games from the Mega CD (or SEGA CD) toy library, including the two Ecco the Dolphin, the excellent Final Fight CD and Sonic the Hedgehog CD. To this will be added some games “bonuses“, with new ports or new games.

At present, we do not know the price in Europe of this SEGA Mega Drive 2 Mini, but given the American price ($99.99), we must already prepare to pay more than 100€ to afford this second Mega Drive Mini. Finally, according to the American packaging (above), this SEGA Mega Drive 2 Mini will indeed be marketed with a six-button controller, like the Japanese version.
