Starlink announces a new welcome to many customers at this time. While overall inflation continues to take hold in 2022, SpaceX’s satellite internet access is lowering the price of many subscriptions. However Starlink has not yet formalized these reductions for all of its customers via press release.
However, we note that the new prices are reflected on the support pages of the countries concerned. In the email received by the persons concerned, Starlink justifies these price reductions by “local market conditions” : “the price reduction is related to your local market conditions, and is assumed to reflect purchasing power parity between all our customers“, explains the firm in an email taken up by The Verge.
The price of the Starlink subscription in France increases to 85 € per month
A journalist based in the Netherlands, for example, saw the price of his Starlink RV subscription drop from €124 to €105. On Reddit, many customers report receiving similar discounts. For example, a person in the UK explains that the price of the basic Starlink subscription has gone from £89 to £75.
A German customer reports that his subscription has gone from €100 to just €80. But in some markets the price reduction is much more significant. For example, The Verge reports that users based in Chile and Brazil are seeing price drops of around 50%. In France, the price of the basic subscription increases to €85 per month (with an initial hardware purchase cost of €480).
The change is reflected on the homepage of the Starlink site when visited from a French IP – as you can see in the screenshot below:

In the United States, on the other hand, the situation is much less clear. Until now, the subscription cost $110/month and some report now benefiting from a rate of $85 per month. But the pages of the access provider still mention for the time being the price of $110 per month in a market whose currency has appreciated strongly against the euro and the pound Sterling in recent months.

Despite these price reductions, Starlink does not touch the characteristics of the subscription. The speeds for which you have signed up therefore remain the same – and there is no question at this stage of introducing a data limit.
