Since the arrival of the PS5, Sony has completely changed its strategy. Now, the goal is to make the PlayStation brand a pillar of the entertainment industry and no longer be limited to console video games. Recently, the Japanese firm has multiplied the ports of cult licenses to cinema or TV series (Uncharted, The Last Of Us, God of War, Horizon, etc.).
As of 2019, most of the big PS4 games are starting to come to PC. And for a year now, rumors have suggested that Sony wants to adapt its cult series to the mobile game market. Obviously, this idea has been accepted and things are likely to change quickly.

In his press release, Hermen Hulst, the director of PlayStation Studio confirms that this acquisition aims to reach even more players: “This studio was founded a few years ago with the vision to fearlessly explore bold new ideas. We share their quest for continuous innovation, as well as the desire to expand our audience and welcome more and more people to the PlayStation universe. This team has thus established itself as an ideal choice to expand the PlayStation Studios family..
To reassure the fans, Hermen does not forget to specify a little further in his press release: “Our activities beyond the world of consoles in no way diminish our dedication to the PlayStation community, nor our passion for creating exceptional single-player narrative experiences”. So, despite ports on PC, adaptations to cinema and TV series, and now, on mobiles, PlayStation does not lose its main objective in mind: the PS5 and the unique experiences as we discovered on PS4 and above all, games single-player narratives.
Hermen Hulst also recalls on the future of PlayStation will be loaded with the release of God of War Ragnarök on November 9 and the release of PlayStation VR2 in early 2023. This new virtual reality headset should offer us “a technological gap in terms of presence and immersion”.
