In 2006, Pixar studios launched their brand new creation: Cars. A feature film, to say the least, unforgettable for young and old who appreciate cars a little, which featured a certain Lightning McQueen, but also other characters such as Martin the tow truck or Sally Carrera. The latter is obviously so named because it is based on the 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera.
When Porsche met Sally
For a few months now, we know that Porsche has been working on a special version of its 911, in tribute to Sally Carrera. The objective was to offer a vehicle as close as possible to the one present in the film Cars, while remaining perfectly functional.
Unveiled very recently, this Porsche 911 Sally Special is the result of a 10-month collaboration between the German manufacturer and the Pixar studio. Inspired by the much-loved Cars character, Sally Carrera, the Porsche 911 Sally Special is a truly one-of-a-kind vehicle, featuring exclusive Sally Blue Metallic paint, 996 Turbo design wheels widened to 21″, specific badging, trim seats and more.
A Porsche 911 Carrera GTS developing 480 horsepower, and a Sally Special with a manual gearbox, without forgetting of course a very specific paint, applied by hand, with the bonus of Sally’s famous tattoo on the rear part. According to the vice-president in charge of communication at Porsche, Sebastian Rudolph: “Vehicles need a face and a story. And Pixar’s animated film “Cars” did just that: bring cars to life on the big screen.
This unique model in the world will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s on August 20, and all profits will be donated to the National Agency of the United Nations as well as to Girls Inc. to help the most disadvantaged, particularly in Ukraine. Remember that like many other manufacturers, Porsche has started its electric revolution, and the manufacturer has already presented its future charging network.
In this way, like Tesla with its Superchargers, Porsche will also have its own charging network for its electric vehicles.
