In the automobile sector, trophies and other awards are legion and are not new, so much so that even those who are not very interested in the subject have already heard of the election of the car of the year, which often makes the front page of the specialized gazettes (or not) for a few days, in the same way as the Ballon d’Or for football.

But, while the transition to electric is accelerating and becoming a reality for an ever-increasing number of motorists, the electric car did not yet have its own trophy.

It is now done, on the initiative of our colleagues at Automobile Propre, the media specializing in electric cars, who recently launched and announced the Watts d’Or for the Electric Car of the Year. A trophy aimed at identifying, naming and rewarding in the first place what would be the best electric car released in France between October 2021 and September 2022 following a ranking established according to several criteria then weighted by a jury and a public vote, which will be opened in the coming days.

And also the trophy for the best innovation in electromobility

If the electric car is the queen category of this competition, two other categories will also be the subject of a vote, that of the best charging network, and that, broader, of innovation in electromobility.

This last category is “open”, which means that it is not subject to a pre-established list of candidates, but is based on a call for applications which should attract the attention of the many young shoots in the sector. .

A highly technological category that concerns several types of companies, such as start-ups in electromobility, equipment manufacturers linked to the electric car, companies that have invented a new device in the electromobility sector or equipment for cars or for recharging, or even those who have developed a service, software or mobile application facilitating travel by electric vehicle.
