- Elon Musk reacts to a video of the Galaxy S23 Ultra x100 zoom
- In this video, youtuber Marques Brownlee takes a picture of the Moon using this zoom
- The S23 Ultra is also the first Samsung to use a 200-megapixel sensor
Did Elon Musk become a fan of Samsung? You can imagine it’s hard to impress the second richest person in the world, who runs SpaceX, Tesla and Twitter. However, reacting to a video highlighting a feature of the Galaxy S23 Ultra , it dropped a “Wow”. What made Musk react is the camera of Samsung’s flagship. Or more precisely, its x100 zoom which allows you to take wonderful pictures of the Moon.
Samsung has already mentioned the performance of its smartphone. But the video published by youtubeur Marques Brownlee, used to testing mobiles, highlights this x100 zoom very well. “I don’t know who needs to take a 100x photo of the moon, but clearly the Galaxy S23 Ultra is the phone for you,” reads the caption of the video he posted. .
Samsung, for its part, reacted to Elon Musk’s comment. And at a time when smartphone sales are collapsing, even at Samsung, this Galaxy S23 Ultra feature benefits from the visibility of the SpaceX CEO’s tweet, which has already been viewed more than 8 million times on Twitter. Additionally, other images of the Moon captured with the Galaxy S23 Ultra are circulating on social media.
When Samsung bets on photo and video
What is certain is that on its Galaxy S23 series , Samsung has gone all out when it comes to photography and video. On the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the rear camera is equipped with a set of two sensors for zooming: a 10 megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and 3x optical zoom, and another 10 megapixels with an f/4.9 aperture and 10x optical zoom. In addition to two telephoto lenses, there is a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, and the main 200-megapixel wide-angle sensor that allows you to take very detailed images, or capture more light in low light thanks to the combination adjacent pixels.
Samsung has worked a lot on its algorithms. And the processor, involved in photo processing, is not left out. Indeed, Samsung is equipping the Galaxy S23 Ultra series with a specially modified Snapdragon 8 gen 1 for its smartphones. This processor is more efficient than the standard version of the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 used by other manufacturers.
And to highlight the quality of the videos of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung has collaborated with the producer and director Ridley Scott. In a previous article, we shared the fruit of this collaboration: a short film entirely filmed with the S23 Ultra.
